Supplier Quality Engineer | 6 Months temporary with permanent potential

A leading manufacturer based in Doncaster is seeking to appoint a Supplier Quality Engineer for an initial 6-month temporary basis with a potential for permanent work in the future. The newly appointed Quality Engineer will join an established team and help drive the implementation of a quality system ensuring supplier audit documentation is reviewed and completed, in addition to undertaking quality investigations, non-conformance, 8d reporting, PAPP and much more.

The role:
My client is seeking a meticulous and experienced Supplier Quality Engineer to ensure our products meet the highest standards of quality and efficiency. As a key member of our quality assurance team, you will play a crucial role in managing and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers to achieve excellence in product quality.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the quality processes for supplier selection and approval including – initial assessment, process and product validation via established methods, sharing of regulatory, certification and business requirements.
  • Responsible for ongoing supplier monitoring and evaluation – Supplier Scorecards, number of SCAR’s / 8Ds raised and time taken for completion, status of product launch activities and relevant trigger points for corrective action / escalation.
  • Development of a site business report for supplier performance.
  • Co-ordinate and ensure containment of quality issues arising from the portfolio of suppliers
  • Monitoring and updating of Goods Inwards inspection requirements based on launch and ongoing performance.
  • Drive root cause, permanent corrective actions and read across for verified supplier quality issues, utilising established SCAR, 8D and problem-solving methods.
  • Develop and complete the supplier audit schedule, in conjunction with the purchasing department, with all findings and subsequent corrective actions fully documented and communicated to both the business and the relevant supplier.
  • Lead the sharing of information and require corrective action with suppliers on any customer claims originating from the portfolio of suppliers.
  • Influence and engage key stakeholders to resolve complex supplier-related issues and improvement opportunities.
  • Lead targeted improvement projects with identified key suppliers to improve quality performance and deliver cost savings.
  • Support the Quality Management System to ensure compliance with all applicable requirements e.g. ISO9001 and Regulatory requirements.
  • Measure & report supply chain KPI’s
  • VA/VE of products & processes through the supply base to ensure lean and efficient operations to drive down cost.

Requirements:
  • Experience as a supplier quality engineer, within a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to commit to a 6-month temporary period
  • Computer-literate with experience of Quality Management Systems
  • Strong understanding of quality control standards and government compliance regulations.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
