We are looking for experienced SEN Teaching Assistants!

  • Position: 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant
  • Location: Leicester City Centre
  • Contract Type: Temporary (6 months initially), Full-Time
  • Salary: £90 per day.
  • Start Date: 27th August 2024.

The provision is dedicated to supporting children with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour for students between 11 and 16 years of age. Our school provides a safe and nurturing environment where students can thrive academically, emotionally, and socially.

Role Overview: As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with individual students within Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. Your role will involve providing tailored support to meet their specific needs across a variety of subject areas. You will collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to create a positive and inclusive learning experience for all.

Responsibilities:

  • Individual Support: Provide personalised support to students with SEMH needs, ensuring their well-being and engagement in learning.
  • Behaviour Management: Implement effective behaviour management strategies to promote positive behaviour and minimise disruptions.
  • Academic Assistance: Assist students in accessing the curriculum, adapting materials as needed.
  • Emotional Support: Build strong relationships with students, offering emotional support and encouragement.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other staff to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of student progress and interventions.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Previous experience working with children with SEMH needs is essential.
  • Qualifications: A relevant teaching assistant qualification or equivalent.
  • Behaviour Management Skills: Ability to deescalate challenging situations and implement effective strategies.
  • Empathy: A compassionate and patient approach to supporting students.
  • Flexibility: Adaptability to meet the diverse needs of individual students.
  • Team Player: Willingness to collaborate and contribute to a positive school community.
