SEN Teaching Assistant in Lewes

Job Title - SEN Teaching Assistant
Hours - 37.5 hours per week - Monday to Friday 08:30 until 17:00/17:30 - 40 weeks per year
Salary - Dependent upon experience, qualifications and responsibility taken
Start Date - Easter


Your new company
You will be working with a specialist school that offers tailored education and support for young people with social, emotional, cognitive, and sensory needs, as well as those diagnosed with Neurodiversity or Complex Trauma. Every student in their care has an Education Health Care Plan and may be unable to attend mainstream schools at this stage. Our goal is to create a nurturing, family-like environment where education is provided on-site. A skilled and experienced teaching team delivers learning, understanding the unique challenges young people face due to difficult life experiences, emotional struggles, and behavioral issues.

Your new role
  • Adapt teaching methods to meet individual student requirements.
  • Help maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Encourage pupils’ confidence and independence.
  • Ensure students have access to necessary resources (e.g., materials, assistive technology).


What you'll need to succeed
  • Experience working with young people and special educational needs is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Work creatively and flexibly with students with special educational needs to promote autonomy, independence, personal development and employability for all students.
  • Form and promote positive relationships with staff, students, parents, the local community and outside agencies
  • Compassionate and patient approach
