Quality Systems Technician

Your new company
Hays Recruitment are seeking a Quality Systems Technician to join our client to cover a leave of absence. This role involves maintaining the Quality Management System (QMS), planning and leading internal audits, writing work instructions, policies, and procedures, and raising and following up on corrective actions.

The position will be a hybrid role, working in the office 3 days per week.
The hours are 37.5hrs per hour, Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm.

Your new role
For this role we're looking for candidates that have experience in QMS management and have done audits in a previous role.
International Standards familiarity, specifically ISO9001, is required. ISO451001 familiarity could serve as a back-up in case of no ISO9001.
A background in operations, manufacturing or logistics (manufacturing preferably due to ISO 9001) is preferable.

Key Responsibilities:
  • QMS Maintenance: Assist in the ongoing maintenance and improvement of the Quality Management System, ensuring all processes align with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 requirements.
  • Internal Auditing: Plan, schedule, and lead comprehensive internal audits, including QMS, manufacturing process audits, and product audits. Utilise a process-based and risk-based approach during audits to ensure compliance.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Write, revise, and maintain work instructions, policies, and procedures. Generate detailed reports, track corrective actions, and closely collaborate with internal stakeholders for follow-up on audit findings.
  • Training and Development: Conduct training sessions for employees on quality systems and processes. Facilitate root cause analysis and develop action plans to resolve non-conformances, employing techniques like the 3P-5Whys method.
  • Support Quality Councils: Contribute to Product Quality Council (PQC) meetings and help compile presentations for management reviews as needed. This includes maintaining the Cummins Connect page and recording meeting minutes.
  • Process Improvement Initiatives: Identify gaps within the QMS and participate in projects aimed at closing those gaps. Support the implementation of customer-specific requirements (CSRs) and assist in various Quality Management System activities.
  • Education and Training Management: Provide specific quality systems-related education, including CQMS user training. Assist with CQMS administrative tasks, including user access assignments and generating MNCs/PNCs.

What you'll need to succeed
Qualifications and Competencies:
  • Experience in QMS management and conducting audits
  • Familiarity with International Standards, specifically ISO 9001 (ISO 451001 as a backup)
  • Background in operations, manufacturing, or logistics (preferably manufacturing)
  • Competencies in building effective teams, collaboration, effective communication, customer focus, driving engagement, ensuring accountability, and quality leadership
  • Knowledge of Total Quality Management (TQM) and able to learn our internal systems
  • Ability to perform process-based and risk-based audits
  • Experience with AIAG core tools (APQP, PPAP, SPC, FMEA, MSA)
  • Six Sigma Green Belt trained and willing to work towards certification

Education & Certifications:
  • Associate degree or equivalent business experience
  • IATF 16949 + ISO 9001 Internal Auditor Trained
  • AIAG core tools trained
  • Six Sigma Green Belt trained and willing to work towards certification
Experience:
  • Demonstrated ability to perform process-based and risk-based audits
  • Initiated, approved, and monitored corrective actions associated with audit findings
  • Planned, performed, and led different QMS audits based on IATF 16949 and ISO 9001
  • Provided training on AIAG core tools
  • Led 3P-5Whys root cause analysis
  • Supported documentation of key processes per business quality manual
  • Demonstrated understanding of manufacturing processes and associated risk analyses (FMEA and control plan)
  • Experience with QMS tools such as QSi, CQMS
