Your new role


We are looking for social housing professionals to join Birmingham City Council as Outreach Officer based in their Newtown office. As an Outreach Officer, you will help case manage a patch of 240 households who currently do not engage with the services that Birmingham City Council offer.

Your duties would be to engage with these 240 households, confirm their residency and establish the details regarding benefits, housing applications and details regarding the property.

Contract length is around 4–6 weeks, but may be extended dependent on workload.

What you'll need to succeed


In order to succeed in your application, you will need a background in Social Housing – this could be a housing officer, neighbourhood officer, homelessness officer etc. You will need knowledge of Legislation and Part 6 and 7 of the Housing Act.

This role requires an Enhanced DBS, which Hays will put into process for you free of charge. Driving and business insurance are needed for this role.

In addition, this role will be an ASAP start. Before starting, you will need to pass your reference and compliance checks. On registration please have your 2 most recent employment details available for reference checks.


What you'll get in return


This role is a full-time, temporary position based in Birmingham. The role is £13.20 per hour, with a premium rate of £14.79 (PAYE)

Due to the council going through a period of transition, permanent opportunities may be available.
