Head of Accounts Payable

Location: Leeds, with occasional travel to London
Salary: Up to £60,000 per annum
Working Hours: 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM, Monday to Friday. Initially full-time in the office, with the potential for hybrid working (1-2 days remote) after settling in.

We are working with a dynamic and rapidly growing company specialising in acquiring property agencies across the UK. With over 60 acquisitions in recent years, they have expanded to over 1,600 employees, managing 50,000 properties across 225 branches. They are looking for a dedicated Head of Accounts Payable to join the team.

Role Overview:
As the Head of Accounts Payable, you will lead a team of 4, including 1 AP Manager and 3 AP Clerks. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the team, ensuring efficient and accurate processing of invoices, supplier payments, and reconciliation of accounts. This role reports directly to the Group Financial Controller.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and oversee the AP team of 4.
  • Coordinate weekly supplier payment runs.
  • Post invoices and reconcile supplier statements in Sage Intaact.
  • Cleanse the purchase ledger of debit balances and unallocated invoices.
  • Set up suppliers and credit terms in Sage, suggest process improvements, and implement controls.
  • Integrate newly acquired businesses' AP functions into the central AP function.
  • Roll out the invoice approval and PO system, Compleat, across various regions.
  • Own the aged creditor report and ensure unallocated cash balances are cleared monthly.
  • Provide ad hoc management information to the Group FC and other stakeholders.

Desired Experience:
  • Proven experience of managing AP functions, preferably in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with mergers and acquisitions is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in SAGE and TAP systems.
  • Strong organisational and leadership skills.
  • Ability to travel to London twice a month (expenses covered).
