Your new company

You will be working for a global consultancy firm based in their London City office. This role will be reporting directly to the Group Financial Controller to oversee their global accounts payable function. You will be responsible for overseeing 20 individuals working across the globe. The business has seen growth and expansion over the past few years and is continuing to increase its workload. Their modern offices are based in the heart of the City with easy travel links. This role is a temporary to permanent position.

Your new role

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of 15 AP professionals located around the world, ensuring timely and accurate payment processing, and maintaining strong relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders. You will play a vital role in the finance team, ensuring that on average 30,000 invoices are being processed effectively and efficiently.

  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounts payable department, including a team of AP specialists.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices, purchase orders, expense reports, credit memos, and payment transactions.
  • Build and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers, addressing any issues or discrepancies.
  • Oversee the month-end closing process, including AP ledger reconciliation and reporting.
  • Resolve complex invoice and payment issues, working closely with internal departments and external vendors.
  • Provide support for internal and external audits, including the preparation of audit schedules and responding to auditor enquiries.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation within the AP function on their new finance system SAGE.
  • Assist with cash flow forecasting and manage the timing of payments to optimise cash flow.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Available to start immediately or within 1 week's time

  • Experience managing a team of 5+ people

  • Experience working with SAGE is advantageous.

  • Experience managing a shared service team is advantageous.
