Job Title: Procurement Manager (Wholesale Non-Food)Salary: £45,000 to £50,000Location: Reading (Hybrid)

We are seeking an experienced Category Manager to lead the management and procurement of disposables and consumables categories across multiple operating companies in the UK and Ireland. This includes packaging, chemicals, janitorial supplies, stationery, and uniforms. The role involves developing category strategies aligned with business objectives to add value, mitigate risks, drive cost savings, and support ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) initiatives.

Responsibilities of role

  • Develop and implement category strategies in line with the supplier tiering system.
  • Foster strong supplier relationships and establish new partnerships where necessary.
  • Monitor market trends and innovations to identify opportunities for competitive advantage.
  • Negotiate and manage clear and effective contractual agreements.
  • Collaborate with tier 1 and 2 suppliers to ensure compliance with business requirements and the supplier code of conduct.
  • Conduct regular reviews and joint business planning with core suppliers.
  • Build and maintain effective networks with internal stakeholders, including H&S, Supply Chain, Technical and Quality Assurance, Operations, and ESG teams.
  • Run end-to-end tender processes, manage cost base through price reviews and benchmarking.
  • Drive supplier compliance with ESG targets, such as reducing packaging waste and ensuring BCI-certified cotton in uniforms.
  • Continuously improve category-specific standards and minimise business risks.
  • Maintain accurate records of deals, supplier updates, trackers, and project delivery statuses.
Ideal Candidate

•Strong knowledge of disposables and consumables procurement practices.
•Excellent negotiation and networking skills.
•Familiarity with procurement systems and standard contractual terms.
Strategic mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
•Exceptional organisational and project management skills.
•Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with stakeholders at all levels.
•Ability to align procurement priorities with business goals and brand values.
•Experience in driving ESG initiatives within supply chains.
