Your new company
The services of Hays have been retained by our client, the Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE) to recruit an Energy Project Manager. Based from their Belfast office within their Asset Strategy department. This organisation has more than 85,000 properties and employs 3,000 members of staff throughout NI.
Your new role
This is a temporary contract position for an initial contract duration of c.9-12 months.
You will report to the Technical Innovation Manager with the responsibility of supporting and contributing to the development of their strategic and evidence-led approach to decarbonising energy use in the Housing Executive’s social rented and other NI homes, along with supporting the delivery of pilot and demonstration projects. Some of the key responsibilities will include:
- Analysing written research material and data participating in developing, preparing, managing, and conducting structured data analysis, research, or testing proposals and installations around energy, carbon emissions, fuel poverty, sustainability, and innovation, to drive continuous improvement within Asset Management.
- Assist in developing costed programmes to complete insulation and energy system upgrades to large numbers.
- Assessment of Asset Management's construction projects through the preparation of post project evaluations.

What you'll need to succeed
To be eligible for this post you must meet the following essential criteria:
Applicants must provide evidence by the closing date for application that they meet the following essential criteria:
Degree or equivalent (level 6*) qualification in Architecture/Building Surveying, data science, or a relevant Building/Construction/Engineering/Scientific discipline PLUS a minimum of 1 year’s relevant experience** which could include salaried post graduate research
OR
BTEC Higher Certificate/Diploma or equivalent* qualification in a relevant discipline PLUS a minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience**
OR
Can demonstrate equivalent continuing professional development/experiential learning PLUS a minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience**
Candidates must demonstrate significant experience**, in at least 3 of the following areas:
- Writing technical reports, including analysis with significant quantitative content, or writing and publishing academic papers on research you have conducted.
- Project management, including control of performance, time, and budgets.
- Regulatory requirements in relation to construction projects particularly for physical installations, materials etc.
- Experience in data processing and data analytics, drawing actionable conclusions from large datasets, or programming of computer software, Apps, or advanced logic controls.
- Computer aided design or simulation.
What you'll get in return
Salary range, up to £40,221 / £20.85.
You will get the opportunity to work for a large Housing Body on an ongoing temporary contract. This position offers an immediate start with weekly payment via BACS transfer with all business mileage expenses being reimbursed at 45p per mile. The role allows for an excellent work-life balance with the working hours amounting to 37 per week along with an annual holiday entitlement of 38 days inclusive of stats and Hybrid working.
