Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and Manage SEN Provision:
Oversee the day-to-day operation of the school's SEN policy and ensure high-quality support for students with special educational needs. - Support and Train Staff:
Provide guidance and training to teachers and support staff on effective strategies for supporting SEN students. - Develop Individual Education Plans (IEPs):
Work with teachers, parents, and external agencies to create and implement tailored IEPs for students. - Monitor Progress:
Regularly assess and track the progress of SEN students, adjusting support strategies as needed. - Liaise with External Agencies:
Collaborate with educational psychologists, health professionals, and other external agencies to ensure comprehensive support for students. - Promote Inclusion:
Foster an inclusive school culture where all students feel valued and supported.
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS):
Essential for this role. - Experience in SEN:
Proven experience working with children with special educational needs, ideally in a primary school setting. - Strong Communication Skills:
The ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and external agencies. - Organisational Skills:
Excellent organisational and time-management skills to manage multiple responsibilities. - Passion for Inclusion:
A genuine commitment to promoting inclusive education and supporting the needs of all students. - Relevant Qualifications:
Additional qualifications in SEN (e.g., NASENCO award) are highly desirable.
