Your new role

As an IT Security Engineer, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding the organisation's IT infrastructure. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining security measures to protect sensitive data and systems. Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Ensure a seamless and consistent delivery of cybersecurity services to agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and technical standards.
  • Translate cybersecurity requirements for Cloud & Server services into technical deliverables, considering industry trends and opportunities.
  • Configure and monitor systems/services to provide data for cybersecurity KPIs/KRIs, capacity planning, performance monitoring, and alerting for incidents.
  • Support the cybersecurity team in developing and measuring the organisation's cybersecurity posture against SLAs and board-set security appetite.
  • Optimise the use of IT tools across the cybersecurity team to enhance effectiveness, efficiency, service availability, and security.
  • Establish and maintain beneficial relationships with technology vendors and suppliers for timely third-party support.
  • Collaborate with partners and suppliers to deliver innovative cybersecurity solutions and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

What you'll need to succeed

The role is a technical security position which requires an understanding of:

  • Cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft Azure IaaS)
  • Server, compute, and storage infrastructure (on-premise & hybrid)
  • Virtualisation environments (e.g., Microsoft Hyper-V, VMWare)
  • Microsoft Windows Server roles (e.g., Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, WSUS, DFS, Group Policy)
  • Microsoft 365 (e.g., SharePoint, Teams, Exchange Online)
  • Mail & web filtering tools (e.g., Clearswift, Fortinet)
  • VPN solutions (e.g., Microsoft Direct Access, Always on VPN)
  • Remote Desktop Services & VDI solutions
  • Backup & recovery solutions
  • Antivirus solutions (e.g., SOPHOS, Microsoft Defender of Endpoint)
  • Vulnerability assessment & scanning tools
  • Database & data architecture (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server)
  • Endpoint management solutions (e.g., Microsoft SCCM, Intune)
  • Digital infrastructure monitoring solutions (e.g., SolarWinds, Azure Monitor)
