Quantity Surveyor required by a large public body to oversee the cost management of maintenance works

Your new company

The services of Hays have been retained by our client, a large public body, to recruit a Quantity Surveyor on a temporary contract basis for a period of c. 6 months with the possibility of further extension.


Your new role

You will work within the maintenance team which has responsibility for the delivery of planned preventative and response maintenance works as well as minor works projects.

You will be responsible for providing a professional quantity surveying service which will include the management of capital and revenue projects/contracts, providing estimates of costs, advising other sections on contract procedures, managing external consultants, authorising payments to contractors and negotiating fees with external consultants.

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered for this position, you should:
Possess a degree or higher in Quantity Surveying with a minimum of five years’ demonstrable post-qualification experience in providing a full range of Quantity Surveying services, or;
Be a Chartered Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS or FRICS) and have a minimum of three years’ demonstrable post-qualification experience in providing a full range of Quantity Surveying services, or;
Have a minimum of seven years’ demonstrable experience in providing a full range of Quantity Surveying services.

Your experience / knowledge should include:
Demonstrable experience of making managerial and technical decisions.
Demonstrable experience in the NEC or similar Term Service Contracts, including experience in the assessment of NEC or similar Compensation Events and preparation of assessments for payment.
Knowledge of the requirements of a Quantity Surveyor including e-tendering processes and the preparation and administration of PQQ and ITT procurement processes.
