A growing multi-academy trust seeking an Engineer/IT Technician to be based at a secondary school in Rochdale.

This multi-academy trust has gone through a significant period of growth over the last 12 months, with further growth planned for the coming 5 years and it is therefore an exciting time to join the trust and become an integral part of the success story. Having worked with the trust for the last 2 years, Hays has continuously received excellent feedback from candidates placed there, with comments made around the welcoming nature of staff, the opportunities available and the overall culture at the trust. The trust created a central IT structure around 18 months ago, and they are now looking for an IT Engineer/IT Technician to join one of their secondary schools based in Rochdale, on a permanent basis. The central IT team consists of the Head of IT, Service Desk Manager, and various Engineers and Technicians and you will be joining an established team where you will be provided with significant training and support from a friendly team.
Your new role
Reporting to the Service Desk Manager, you will be responsible for providing IT support across the school with the support of the wider central IT team. The support will include hardware, software, networking, working with bespoke educational systems and technologies and supporting to deliver on all ongoing IT projects. On a daily basis, this will involve liaising with staff and pupils to respond to IT requests, ensuring that the service provided enhances the teaching and learning across the school, through the effective use of technology. This support could involve troubleshooting issues, ensuring end users are kept up to date on the resolution of issues, liaising with support engineers and with 3rd party vendors when required. Hardware will require installation and building, there will be software installs and updates, as well as the introduction of new systems which will require you to work with staff to provide training around new technologies. In addition, you will support them with AV equipment, printers and also bespoke educational technologies such as interactive whiteboards. As the trust works to a more centralised IT infrastructure, there will be a large volume of IT projects, and you will therefore work with the wider IT team to ensure the successful delivery of these projects, currently projects focused around cybersecurity and the cloud.
What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful in securing this position, you must possess significant IT Engineer/IT Technician experience and will ideally have experience working in the education sector at a school, college or multi-academy trust. You will have excellent communication skills, as well as strong customer service skills to ensure that the highest level of IT support is provided to staff and pupils. You will be a proactive IT Technician who thrives in an environment where they will continue to develop and progress in their career, learning about new technologies.
