Multi Academy Trust in Chorley is seeking an IT Engineer to join the trust on a permanent basis.

Your new company

This multi-academy trust is based in the Chorley area, currently with 2 schools (1 primary and 1 secondary) and with further plans to grow, and the IT Manager has approached Hays seeking an IT Engineer to join the central IT team. The trust has an excellent reputation, being in the top 10 performing schools in Lancashire and consistently remaining in this group, and it is therefore imperative that the right individuals are appointed to ensure continuous high performance. Reporting to the IT Manager, you will also work with an IT Technician and you will become an integral part of the central IT team.

Your new role

Working closely with the IT Manager, the IT Engineer will be responsible for contributing to the IT team, and supporting the development of the IT infrastructure across the trust. You will work closely with the IT Technician who will respond to first line queries, where you will handle the more technical queries and also support in upskilling the IT Technician. The support you will provide will encompass hardware, software, printing and AV equipment and also bespoke educational technologies such as interactive whiteboards. In addition, you will be maintaining the IT asset register, also procuring and ordering consumables, ensuring the best value from suppliers. You will oversee the helpdesk system, ensuring issues are resolved efficiently and end users are aware of progress on resolutions. As IT Engineer, you will be working closely with staff and pupils, educating staff around the use of IT in the classroom and overall encouraging the use of IT, ensuring they are fully trained in all technologies.

What you'll need to succeed

In order to be successful in securing this position, you must possess IT Technician experience, having provided support for both 1st and 2nd line issues, ideally with experience working in the education sector for a school, college, trust or education MSP. You will have excellent communication and customer service skills, with a real passion for providing IT support in this rewarding environment.
