Hays Recruitment are proud to be working in partnership with a Winsford-based SEND school that supports pupils between the ages of 2 - 19 with a variety of complex and profound needs as they require a motivated and reliable teaching assistant to support a KS1 class. This is a full-time temporary to permanent contract with hours consisting of 8:45am - 3:45pm.
Your new role
As a teaching assistant within this school, you will be based in a KS1 class supporting your new pupils on a 1:1 and group basis. Your pupils have a variety of complex needs including complex learning difficulties, ASC (Autistic Spectrum Conditions) and present challenging behaviours. You will work alongside the class teacher and teaching assistants to offer a stimulating and engaging learning environment for all pupils by taking a pupil-centred approach to education and building strong constructive relationships. This class can be disruptive, and although they are not physically aggressive, they can present challenging behaviours. To aid in positive behaviour support, you will implement a myriad of positive behaviour strategies including sensory play/taking pupils to the sensory rooms, reward charts and traffic light systems. You may at times be required to support different classes across the school or to support a child in a different key stage/year group on a 1:1 basis. This may at times include intimate care requirements.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered in your application, you must have recent referenceable experience supporting children, young people and/or adults with complex needs, as well as:
- Experience supporting ASD, LD and/or challenging behaviours
- Experience supporting KS1 (Key Stage 1) aged young people is advantageous
- Experience implementing positive behaviour strategies
- An NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification is advantageous but not required
