Job Description:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support our students and staff. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality education and care, working closely with teachers to plan and deliver lessons, manage classroom activities, and provide targeted support to students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead classes in the absence of the teacher, ensuring a conducive learning environment.
  • Plan and deliver lessons independently, adapting teaching methods to meet the needs of learners.
  • Provide targeted support to individual students or groups to facilitate understanding and progress.
  • Assess student performance, provide constructive feedback, and contribute to the evaluation of learning outcomes.
  • Offer specialised support in areas like literacy, numeracy, or SEN.
  • Collaborate with teachers to implement teaching strategies, share resources, and coordinate interventions.
  • Engage in professional development to enhance teaching skills and stay updated with educational trends.
  • Undertake administrative duties like record-keeping and preparing classroom materials.
  • Communicate regularly with parents or caregivers regarding student progress and behaviour.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant.
  • HLTA status, demonstrating that you meet the 33 HLTA professional standards.
  • Level 2 or equivalent qualifications in English/literacy and maths/numeracy.
  • Proficiency in using ICT to support your work.
  • Training in relevant learning strategies.
  • Specialist skills/training in a curriculum area.
  • Strong knowledge of the curriculum and ability to support students with SEN.

  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children with special educational needs.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
