EYFS teacher - Part-time - Barnsley - Contract

Hays Education are proud to be working with a community-focused primary academy to recruit a part-time Early Years Teacher.

Our client is a "Good" Ofsted-rated school in the Barnsley area, integrated into the local community. They have a reputation for excellence in both academic achievement and pupil wellbeing, and have strong staff retention. They focus on a child-centred approach, supported by a successful multi-academy trust.

Your new role

The role of EYFS teacher will be primarily based within the integrated nursery, and the successful candidate will be required to teach the morning sessions on a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday each week. You will be supported by a dedicated teaching assistant who is familiar with the children in this cohort. As an Early Years Teacher, it will be your responsibility to create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where children can explore and learn through play. You will implement a curriculum that supports the physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development of each child within the group, using a variety of teaching methods and activities to engage them, including art, crafts, outdoor play and storytelling. Additionally, you will observe and assess children's progress, providing feedback to parents and caregivers. Overall, you will lay the foundation for lifelong learning and help the children develop the skills they need to succeed in school and beyond. Covering a maternity leave, this role is to last until the end of the academic year and there is scope for this to extend for the right candidate.

What you'll need to succeed

The ideal candidate for this role will;

  • Be a qualified teacher with experience in Early Years
  • Be willing to commit to a long-term role
  • Demonstrate a passion for teaching and a creative approach
  • Work collaboratively with other professionals to improve outcomes
  • Live within a commutable distance of Barnsley
  • Have a DBS on the update service or be willing to apply for one
