Control Systems Engineer

Working in close partnership with customers to solve complex engineering challenges, this company leverages the ingenuity of its people in the application of advanced control techniques. The engineering positions provide a challenging opportunity for the commissioning of automated systems.

Your new role

Reporting to the Manufacturing Director, your duties and responsibilities will include:
  • PLC Programming: Writing and developing code for Allen Bradley Rockwell and PLC Siemens S7/TIA Portal.
  • Development: Structured ladder logic, statement list, function blocks.
  • System Communications: Set-up of EtherNet, Modbus, and Profibus.
  • Drives: Set-up of AC/DC drives and inverters.
  • PID Controllers: Knowledge for control of flow, level, pressure, temperature, and humidity.
  • Testing & Validation: Perform testing and validation of hardware/software systems.
  • Commissioning: On-site commissioning of new systems both in the UK and worldwide.
  • Customer Training: Conduct customer training sessions.
  • Software Development: Development of Robot and PLC software.
  • Remote Support: Provide remote customer support, fault-finding, and diagnostics.
  • Health & Safety: Be familiar with Risk Assessment and typical Health and Safety issues in the workplace.
  • Company Procedures: Operate within company procedures.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience: Experienced in PLC programming, particularly Allen Bradley.
  • Design & Development: PLC/SCADA system design and development.
  • Systems Knowledge: Systems, software, and hardware development experience.
  • Ignition Systems: Knowledge of Ignition systems is desirable.
  • Qualifications: B.Eng./M.Eng. in Electrical, Electronics, or Mechatronic degree qualification. BTEC with significant controls experience will be considered.
  • Attributes: Right to work in the UK, willingness to travel throughout the UK and overseas, self-driven for progressive and continued learning and development.
