Junior Buyer (Belfast)

Your new company

Hays Construction have been retained in the recruitment of a Junior Buyer for a utilities contractor based in Belfast. This company has been established for over 30 years, and currently operates with a turnover of over £25m. Involved in million-pound contracts, they are one of the largest utilities contractors operating in NI, and specialise in power, telecoms, civil engineering and infrastructure. Due to consistently increasing workloads, they are now recruiting for Junior Buyer.

Your new role

Our client requires a procurement specialist to join their commercial team and assess requirements for materials on a range of projects. You will be responsible for arranging the cost-effective purchase of the materials to an acceptable quality standard. You will procure materials for a variety of projects across the UK and NI worth up to £2m. You will be office-based and report directly to the Commercial Manager.

What you'll need to succeed

The successful candidate will have an interest in pursuing a career within procurement with previous experience in a similar role ideally with a contractor. A proven track record of cost-effective purchasing is essential. As you will be required to work as part of a team, excellent interpersonal and communication skills are necessary. You will also be able to demonstrate impressive negotiation skills accompanied with the ability to work on your own initiative.
