This thriving school provides an inspiring and safe learning environment for its students. With a proud history of academic excellence and innovation, they are now seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Estates to lead the strategic and operational management of the school estate.

About the role

As the Head of Estates, you will be responsible for ensuring that the school building and facilities are maintained to the highest standards, providing a safe and welcoming environment for students, staff and visitors. You will oversee the development and implementation of the school’s estate strategy, taking responsibility for facilities management and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage site staff across the school site, fostering a collaborative environment and demonstrating flexibility with working hours as needed.
  • Lead projects focused on enhancing premises, including planning and development initiatives.
  • Adopt a hands-on leadership approach, dividing time between office-based work, collaborating with contractors, and performing daily premises tasks.
  • Ensure adherence to statutory and compliance requirements, aligning with strategic plans and Health and Safety protocols.
  • Excel in communication and negotiation, liaising effectively with school staff and contractors.

Key Requirements

  • Proven experience in estates, facilities, or property management in an educational setting.
  • A strong understanding of health and safety regulations and compliance.
  • Excellent project management skills with a track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Able to navigate multiple responsibilities with ease.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships.
