Head of Environmental Estates (Built Assets) for the City of London Corporation!
Job Title: Head of Environmental Estates
12 Month FTC
Department: Environment
Location: Guildhall
Grade: G
Purpose of Post: The Environment Department oversees over 300 built assets across London and the South-East, ranging from listed buildings to work sheds, staff living accommodation to office space. The Head of Estates will establish and deliver a cohesive cross-department strategic asset plan, ensuring alignment with the City’s Corporate Property Asset Management Strategy and related documents. This role involves leading a collaborative approach to identifying transformation opportunities within the portfolio and building strong relationships with senior managers.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and develop a coordinated strategic approach to asset management within the Environment Department.
Develop and deliver a strategically aligned action plan for the department's portfolio.
Establish and lead the Environment Department Estates Board.
Implement an intelligent client approach to asset management.
Identify opportunities for income generation, cost saving, and efficient usage.
Develop clear roles and responsibilities for asset management and provide appropriate training.
Prepare and present reports to the Senior Leadership Team.
Facilitate the sharing of best practices and identify opportunities for improvement.
Promote a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive culture.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and promote equality of opportunity.
Person Specification:
Significant experience in problem-solving and developing solutions in a complex and fast-changing organisation.
Experience in strategy and policy development and reviews.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and diplomatic skills.
Proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively with senior leaders.
Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
Evidence of working across teams/departments to build relationships.
Exceptional problem-solving skills and solution-focused project engagement.
Ability to integrate and deliver multiple inter-dependent workstreams.
