Assistant Manager

Position: Assistant Store Manager

Salary: £35,625 to £43,440, plus London allowance where applicable (starting salary negotiable for the ideal candidate)

Contract Type/Working Hours: Permanent, 45 hours per week
Minimum Requirements:

  • Possession of a full driving licence (or commitment to obtain one within 3 months of commencement, excluding London/M25 areas)
  • Legal right to work in the UK
  • Flexibility regarding working hours, including weekends and evenings
  • Demonstrated management experience in a fast-paced environment with a proven history of managing, developing, and leading teams
Role Overview:

As an Assistant Store Manager in a supermarket, you will be instrumental in supporting the Store Manager in the operation of a multi-million-pound store. You will be tasked with motivating and developing a diverse and talented team. Your primary responsibilities will encompass:

  • Assisting with deliveries, placing orders, and addressing customer enquiries
  • Managing team performance and organising staff schedules
  • Maximising sales, ensuring exceptional customer service, minimising costs, and optimising operational efficiency
  • Assuming the Store Manager’s responsibilities in their absence
Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspire and lead the team to achieve targets and deliver outstanding customer service
  • Oversee daily operations, including stock management and store presentation
  • Address customer complaints and enquiries with professionalism and efficiency
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations
  • Continuously monitor and enhance store performance through effective management practices
Person Specification:

  • Experienced in people management within a fast-paced retail environment
  • Open to candidates from non-food backgrounds (e.g., fashion retail) who meet the requirements
  • Proven ability to lead teams in a dynamic, customer-centric environment
  • Strong time management skills and a focus on operational efficiency
  • Highly motivated to consistently achieve targets
  • Friendly, helpful, and respectful towards customers and team members
  • Capable of handling challenging situations and delivering impressive results
