Our client is a large operator of important transport infrastructure in the UK.

Your new role

The Category Specialist provides effective support to the Supply Chain function on supplier agreements, internal data management and system updates, and other procurement arrangements. They are responsible for supporting the Operational and Indirects Category Managers in tendering, negotiations and supplier evaluations. Sourcing suppliers and negotiating pricing for goods and services. Working with suppliers and key stakeholders. The post-holder must take an extremely proactive approach and exhibit a passion for delivering exceptional results to the bottom line by working collaboratively with their teams by developing influential and positive relationships across the business. Responsibility for supporting the delivery of financial & non-financial value improvement activities identified in the Supply Chain business plan. Create & run reports showing third party spend & commitments by multiple variants (supplier, category, timeframe) via the procurement system.


What you'll need to succeed

This position would be suitable for a candidate who is looking to progress in their career with only a few years' procurement experience. Experience with various categories with extensive “hands-on experience” in a similar role in a complex, high-value procurement environment. Experience of effectively using procurement systems and strong analytical skills and sound judgment. Experience of contract negotiations and contract change. The ability to build and maintain strong, effective working relationships across the business and influence key stakeholders.
