A forward-thinking organisation committed to aligning financial resources with corporate and service strategies. Seeking a dedicated and professionally qualified Chief Accountant with a local government background. The role takes responsibility for the day-to-day monitoring of our financial position.
Key responsibilities include:
Overseeing the organisation’s financial position, ensuring alignment with corporate and service strategies. Develop and implement financial plans and strategies to optimise resource allocation, as well as coordinating and developing the medium-term financial plan, revenue budget, and capital programme whilst providing regular updates to the Executive team on financial performance and strategy. Alongside this, you will lead the monitoring of capital strategy, budgets, funding, and medium-term programmes, act as the lead officer for borrowing and investments, managing the preparation and management of the final accounts process, ensuring timely delivery of the statutory accounts requirements, managing the audit as the key point of contact and leading a large team to deliver insightful and timely financial information.

What you'll need to succeed
As a qualified Financial Manager with a background in local government accounting, you will demonstrate leadership skills, an engaging approach, excellent negotiating and influencing skills and a keen eye for detail. Additionally, your success in this job will be measured by your ability to provide financial direction, advice and support to a range of complex corporate development projects and initiatives. Demonstrable skills in developing and evaluating options, determining long term sustainable solutions and safeguarding the interests of the organisation will be key to success.
