Claims Handling Team Lead Job - Law Firm - Hybrid Working Taunton Bristol or Remote

Your new company
Our client is a global law firm with particular expertise within the insurance sector; they are regarded as one of the international leaders in insurance. They currently have an excellent opportunity for a Claims Handling Team Lead to join their Insurance division to be responsible for overseeing a team of claims handlers, ensuring that cases are managed efficiently, fairly, and with the highest standards of customer service. You'll provide guidance, support, and development to your team, while also acting as a point of escalation for complex claims. You will be able to work from home frequently with travel to the Taunton, Bristol or London office as and when required (likely on a monthly basis).

Your new role
The team handles claims on behalf of major international insurers, brokers, managing general agents and insurer-led schemes. They deal with thousands of notifications and their claims handlers provide proactive, responsive, and cost-effective claims services, driven by a desire to provide outstanding client service. You will:
  • Lead, motivate, and support a team of claims handlers to achieve performance targets and service levels;
  • Monitor workflow and allocate resources to ensure timely and effective claims processing;
  • Instructing and monitoring service suppliers, including external legal counsel, panel firms and adjusters and controlling expenditure;
  • Providing support to the Client's Underwriters including advising on claims-related information, updating on trends, attending claims review meetings as required;
  • Ensuring full compliance with all service standards and ensuring that Claims Handling is conducted with regard to the relevant regulatory compliance;
  • Handle escalated or complex claims with a focus on resolution and customer satisfaction;
  • Assisting in the mentoring, training and development of Claims Handlers, Assistant Claims Handlers and Technicians;
  • Actively participate in and contribute improvements to the claims processes and systems whilst promoting best practice and reduce the level of non-value added tasks undertaken by Claims Handlers


What you'll need to succeed
  • Proven experience in a claims handling role, ideally with leadership or supervisory experience;
  • Strong knowledge of claims processes, legislation, and regulatory requirements;
  • In depth understanding of Professional Indemnity or D&O claims;
  • Appropriate technical expertise and analytical skills;
  • Coverage knowledge with the ability to make your own determination/challenge lawyers;
  • Ability to lead by example and inspire others;
