COMMERCIAL MANAGER - £150 million Nuclear build project

Your new company

We are working closely with one of the biggest Build and Civils contractors in the UK who have teamed up with a Civil contracting counterpart in Joint Venture to construct one of the most ambitious and prestigious Civils/Nuclear projects anywhere in Europe. With an Engineering and Build legacy that stretches back over 150 years, our client boasts a place amongst the largest contractors in the country.

They are forward-thinking and fast-adapting construction outfit, whose focus is always firmly with their customers/clients best interests at heart. Their unique operating model differs from those of other major contractors and enables them to deliver certainty to clients. At the core of this model are areas of industry-leading expertise: excellence in engineering; use of digital technologies; and the use of modern construction methods to deliver projects quicker, greener, more safely and to a higher standard. All of which is underpinned by the energy, ambition, innovation, and teamwork of their people.

Your new role

You will become a senior member of a steady and close-knit commercial team that has grown with regularity over the past few years and has a reputation as a healthy, prosperous place to work. You will be part of the commercial project team. This role is responsible for the commercial aspects of a project including managing specialist subcontractors, liaising with client & project teams; pricing of variations, interim valuations and valuing subcontractors' accounts. You will also be tasked with ensuring the project and business profit objectives and targets are met and cash and margin are managed to maximise performance, all in a manner consistent with the Group processes. You will be in charge of the Commercial progress of 3 large scale packages, each totalling anywhere between £100-150 million in price.

What you'll need to succeed

You will need to be a progressive and dedicated commercial expert, ideally with heavy Civils or Big Build experience. Ideally, you will have managed NEC contracts at some juncture in your career, largely on the contractor side, though client-side work is attractive too. You will need to possess at least some form of people management skills as this is a managerial role with several AQS and QS colleagues reporting in to you.

What you'll get in return

You will be able to include one of the most prestigious contractors to your CV as well as having an opportunity to build a career in a booming sector of the civils and construction market. You will be offered a highly attractive salary, with flexible working available, a large pension contribution, travel allowance, many other company benefits.
