A well known public sector organisation based in the Southampton area. Hybrid working 2 days a week in the office.
Your new role
- You will undertake the role of Data Protection Officer for the organisation.
- This includes monitoring compliance and providing advice on data protection responsibilities. The DPO role must act autonomously and independently in the performance of their duties.
- You will provide independent risk-based advice to support decision-making in processing personal (and other types of data) within the principles and rights laid down in legislation.
- You will ensure the organisation is legally compliant under associated legislation and is legally processing personal information.
- You will provide bespoke advice, guidance, and expertise to all levels of staff on matters for business as usual, Data Sharing Agreements, Data Protection Impact Assessments, Policy, Procedure FOIs, EIRs, data subject requests.
- You will be the single point of contact for the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) for all data protection matters.
What you'll need to succeed
- You will hold a relevant qualification in Data Protection and/or have relevant work experience.
- You will have proven DPO experience, with demonstrable experience in UK/EU data protection laws and regulations.
- Ability to use own initiative to prioritise workloads and meet specified legislative deadlines
- Leadership skills to lead, influence and motivate a proactive team-working that will encourage collaborative working relationships.
- Excellent stakeholder and communication skills, both oral and written, including ability to communicate information, cybersecurity and data compliance and risk related concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
- You will have experience of writing corporate policies and procedures and also interpreting complex legislation, policies and procedures and putting them into practice.
- Hybrid working 2 days a week in the office
- Salary £43- 45700 + £10k market supplement available for the right candidate.
