Overview

East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust (EEAST) have a bold vision to ensure that the people of the East of England region are provided with excellent urgent and emergency healthcare by a dedicated team of nearly 5,000 staff and 1,500 volunteers. After two years of focused cultural change and organisational transformation work by our dedicated staff, EEAST came out of the NHS Oversight Framework in January 2024.

The role
As a senior member of the Senior Management Team, reporting to Chief of Clinical Operations, the post holder will plan, develop, and implement Operation Performance Improvement and Delivery by –

  • Promoting a culture of continuous quality improvement to ensure best practice patient care.
  • Developing a ‘one service’ brand and culture for the delivery of patient facing services.
  • Ensuring the Make Ready, Fleet Services and Clinical Engineering are working effectively across the Trust and providing the support needed to Service Delivery.
  • Ensuring Operations works as a single team to provide an efficient and cost-effective service.
  • Providing leadership and direction to all operational staff in EEAST Sectors to ensure central policy is effectively implemented and performance levels achieved.
  • To ensure EEAST works effectively with individual ICBs, STPs, and clusters, to influence and implement Local Urgent Care Policy.
  • Representing the Chief of Clinical Operations, when required, being the public face of EEAST, and enhancing the reputation and profile of the Service.
  • Making the most effective decisions on behalf of EEAST that affect patient care, the public, staff and the Service, using well-informed judgement in collaboration with a range of stakeholders.
  • Working with external agencies and communities to build relationships and proactively deliver appropriate responses to meet the challenges and needs of patients, other Emergency Services, and Social and Health Care Services.
  • Making, and being accountable for, decisions on behalf of the Trust at Gold/Strategic Level, requiring working on an On-Call Out-of-Hours Rota, covering days, nights, and weekends.
