Digital Communications Manager | London | Hybrid Working | 3 months with scope to extend

Your new role

  • Create and deliver a cross-platform content strategy, in collaboration with the wider Corporate Communications Team;
  • Work in partnership with media officers to deliver high quality digital communications products;
  • Draft, create and publish content for a range of audiences and channels;
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to evolve and hone our digital presence;
  • Lead the use of intelligent evaluation and data analysis to optimise our approach to content including sentiment and evaluation reporting to represent the City Corporation users’ voices, influence decision making and inform future work;
  • Provide advice to senior managers and others as required on how digital communications and content can help support City of London Corporation Corporate Plan;
  • Identify and manage emerging issues and trends which might impact or benefit City of London Corporation;
  • Build and maintain strong relationships across the organisation and externally with appropriate stakeholders in order to create and deliver accurate, appropriate and timely key messages;
  • Work closely with media colleagues, sometimes providing additional support out of hours for high profile events;
  • Contribute to planning, evaluation documents, reports and other City of London Corporation communications materials and briefings;


What you'll need to succeed

Essential criteria
  • Experience of delivering clear, accurate and effective communications and engagement content strategies for a range of digital platforms;
  • Excellent written and design skills with the ability to produce clear and easy to understand content from complex policy information;
  • Experience of creating digital and social media assets using industry standard tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Canva, Illustrator, InDesign and Figma;
  • Experience of website content management systems and search engine optimisation;
  • Experience of monitoring and evaluation and using metrics to inform your communications approach;
  • Experience of working collaboratively across teams and leading colleagues at all levels and external stakeholders;
  • Experience of developing and implementing strategic communications and engagement plans;
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding and unpredictable environment, being able to prioritise your own work, often under pressure;
  • Proven ability to identify communications trends and opportunities to build and strengthen our digital footprint;
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills and the confidence to challenge decisions if necessary.

Desirable criteria
  • Experience of managing colleagues;
  • Experience of working within a public sector organisation or not-for-profit/campaigning organisation.


What you'll get in return

A fast-paced, exciting working environment, and the opportunity to cover many different types of content across the spectrum. You will be required to work out of hours sometimes, to aid with important events hosted by the Authority, but this is adequately compensated. This is a 3 month temporary contract, and it does have a scope for extension.
