Invigilation work is available for three weeks in May 2024. Working for one of the top Universities in the city for a period of approx. 3 weeks to support the examination period. This large university in Liverpool is a well-recognised, professional higher education institution with a reputation for being an excellent employer. Every year, higher education organisations support thousands of students through the exam period with the help and support of invigilators.


Your new role

  • We are seeking 100 reliable and professional exam invigilators to join our team at the University of Liverpool for a three-week period starting in May 2024. This is a temporary position with competitive hourly pay of £12.82-£15.04 dependent on whether you are a support invigilator or lead invigilator.
    As an exam invigilator, you will be responsible for overseeing the administration of exams, ensuring that all rules and regulations are followed by students.

    Duties and responsibilities include -
  • You will be required to attend a 3-hour training session on Friday 3rd January, time TBC – you will be paid for this as hours worked.
  • Based on-campus in January 2025.
  • Staff are required to sign in and collect any materials from a designated area and deliver them to the allocated exam room and deliver completed exams at the end of the allocated time frame.
  • Monitor during the exam period (typically between 2–3 hours, but can be longer for exam rooms with adjustments like extra time).
  • Ensure exam rooms contain the relevant equipment and source items necessary to commence exams.
  • In some cases, the invigilator will take place in a 1-2-1 environment.
  • Ensure the implementation of any reasonable adjustments as described in the exam report.
  • Prevention and detection of misconduct by students.
  • Maintain a calm and stress-free environment for the students.
  • Ensure the health and safety standards are met.
  • Attend and use skills provided in training.

    What you'll need to succeed

    The ideal candidate for this role will:
  • Availability for the 3rd Jan. Training is mandatory, you will need to attend this in order to be able to undertake the invigilation.
  • Have a calm and empathetic attitude throughout the assignment.
  • Be able to carry and transport high volumes of documents between locations on a large campus.
  • This role will prioritise applications for either: previous experience of invigilation and/or a registered PhD student.
  • Availability to commit to booked shifts throughout January – excluding weekends (shifts will be discussed with you before confirming).
  • This role can be on a part-time basis, but ideally, you will have full-time availability.
  • Exam sessions run throughout the mornings and afternoons.
  • Calm under pressure and able to be flexible on the needs of each exam.
  • Demonstrate exceptional punctuality

    What you'll get in return

  • For this role, you will be paid for all training sessions.
  • You will receive a generous pay with guaranteed minimum pay per day - paid full day rates even if exams run early and paid extra when they don't!
  • You will be paid 3.5 hours for one exam and 6.5 hours per day for 2 exams.
  • NO MATTER WHAT. The pay will be weekly.
  • The location is the City Centre of Liverpool.
  • Paid an hourly premium rate between £12.82-£15.04.
  • The opportunity to gain additional invigilation work throughout the year.
