An international engineering company is looking for a Filter Engineer - Aerospace/Defence/Medical Industry.

Filter Engineer – Remote (Site in Dundee)

As the Technical Lead for Design and Applications Engineering, you will oversee the development of new filter and filter-based multi-functional products throughout their entire lifecycle. You will also lead larger, more technically challenging transformation and next-generation development projects.

This role is primarily remote, with occasional travel to our Dundee site.

**Key Responsibilities:**

- Lead the design of passive RF/Microwave filter products, ensuring compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer requirements, and related specifications.
- Monitor project progress, collaborate with engineers, and review status to ensure development is on schedule.
- Approve Design Engineering drawings and provide mentorship and coaching.
- Conduct detailed design reviews, including tolerance studies, FMEA, DFM, and FEA.
- Develop concepts by accurately interpreting customer specifications and requirements to generate technical proposals.
- Engage in research and development to explore new technologies for continuous improvement.
- Provide advanced technical support to the sales team to win new business and support existing clients.
- Offer specialised technical assistance to global operations teams, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Create and maintain design information in accordance with ISO standards.
- Develop technology and process know-how to ensure designs remain technologically competitive.
- Participate in team training, development, mentoring, and audits.
- Exhibit behaviours consistent with company policies.

**Ideal Candidate Skills/Experience:**

- Expertise in designing suspended substrate, micro-strip, and high-power lumped element (discrete) filters, multiplexers, and multi-functional assemblies.
- Proficiency in designing machined cavity and waveguide filter topologies.
- Proficient in using EDA design software such as ANSYS HFSS, CST, Keysight, and AWR tools.
- Experience in power handling analysis and mitigation techniques, including RF and thermal effects.
- Proven hands-on experience in filter development using vector network analysers and high-power test equipment.
- Ability to contribute to company objectives and achieve goals creatively and effectively.
- Advanced knowledge of technical principles, theories, and concepts.
- Recognised as an expert within the company and by customers.
- Competent in advanced Finite Element Analyses techniques.
- Expert in product application and understanding its impact on overall system performance.
- Skilled at using 3D and 2D design tools.
- In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, including machining, moulding, and assembly techniques.
- Expert knowledge of MIL-Spec and other Space/Defence/Aerospace/Medical industry specifications.
- Ability to perform Root Cause Analysis using standard problem-solving tools and methodologies.
