Your new role

As a Finance Officer, you will be an integral part of the Finance team, providing efficient and effective financial support. You will handle day-to-day financial processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Your role will involve supporting the Senior Finance Officer and adapting to the department's needs. Salary: £29,000 - £33,000 per annum.

Key responsibilities:
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times in respect of school-related matters and prevent disclosure of confidential and sensitive information.
  • Process purchase orders for equipment and materials accurately within agreed authorisation and timescales.
  • Monitor goods received notes on the Academy’s finance system against orders, checking for accuracy and resolving discrepancies.
  • Open, stamp, date, and distribute post, bringing important items to the attention of the Head of Finance.
  • Process invoices within the terms stated by the supplier, ensuring appropriate authorisation and payment.
  • Handle queries from suppliers, customers, and other parties professionally and efficiently.
  • Prepare pay lists for authorisation to process payments by BACS or card.
  • Send remittance advice, sales receipts, and other necessary communications to suppliers/customers.
  • Receipt and process monies brought into the finance department for weekly banking.
  • Assist with regular banking of all monies.
  • Record monthly hospitality and pupil premium expenditure, highlighting abnormalities to the Head of Finance.
  • Process staff expense payments and maintain appropriate records.
  • Process credit card purchases, preparing monthly reconciliations and highlighting abnormalities.
  • Maintain detailed records of non-invoiced income and expenditure, including grants and school trip money.
  • Maintain filing of financial information, including scanning invoices and attaching them to transactions within IRIS Financials.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliation and associated accounting transactions.
