Exciting permanent Financial Controller role with a fast-growth wholesale distributor in Leeds
Hays Senior Finance are proud to be partnering with a £60 million turnover SME business in fast and consistent growth mode. This privately-owned business is thriving and going from strength to strength. This exciting position offers you the opportunity to lead financial operations and drive strategic initiatives.
Your new role
Working as part of a dynamic finance function and reporting to the Financial Director, you will lead a team of 6 transactional finance staff. Responsible for accurate transactional processes, bank reconciliations, including foreign currency, purchase ledger, credit control and month-end close. You will manage and motivate your team to ensure supplier and customer transactions are timely and up to date. Responsible for debt reporting, you will produce ad-hoc reports for the FD and MD. Supporting the FD with month-end processes and financial and management reporting, VAT reports and year-end. This is an all-encompassing role with the opportunity for growth based on ongoing business performance and personal development.

Key Accountabilities:
- Oversee all financial activities, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.
- People management, leadership and mentoring of an existing transactional finance team to achieve departmental goals.
- Collaborate with senior management to develop and implement financial strategies.
- Analyse financial data to provide insights and support decision-making.
Requirements:
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with significant post-qualification experience.
- Proven track record in a similar role within a fast-paced environment
- Prior exposure to an SME/ privately owned business would be a distinct advantage.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in financial software and systems, and strong Excel skills
