Your new company
The Devonshire Group comprises the Devonshire family interests, charities and businesses throughout the UK and Ireland, including Chatsworth, which sits within the Derbyshire Estate, the Bolton Abbey Estate in North Yorkshire, the Lismore Estate in County Waterford, and the Compton Estate in Sussex.

Chatsworth House Trust is a significant part of the Devonshire Group, which is a diverse organisation with many moving parts, which include visitor attractions, shops, restaurants and luxury accommodation at Chatsworth, Bolton Abbey and Lismore Castle in Ireland. The estates include tenanted businesses and residential property, a property development business with a pipeline of 2000 homes, sustainable forestry and farming businesses and an estate farm shop at Chatsworth.

The Devonshire Group employs approximately 1,400 colleagues across their estates, which are spread over 65,000 acres. The group is committed to benefitting heritage, people and a shared future, by preserving, restoring and enhancing their heritage assets, by being a significant contributor to their communities and by being seen as a leader in the way they do things.

Your new role
Hays Procurement are delighted to be partnering with the Devonshire Group to appoint a new and exciting opportunity as the Group Procurement Manager. This new role will join the business, adding value to the group with a genuine opportunity to shape and develop a group procurement function from scratch. As Group Procurement Manager, you will play a vital role in overseeing a diverse range of procurement projects and engaging with key stakeholders across the business. In this position, you will take ownership of the Group’s sourcing capabilities, tasked with identifying, evaluating, and securing suppliers, products, and services that align with strategic objectives.

As Group Procurement Manager, you will work closely with stakeholders across the Devonshire Group to understand business needs and ensure procurement policies support organisational goals. Your leadership will be instrumental in developing and delivering Group-wide procurement strategies across all spend areas, from supplier selection to contract negotiation. You will lead cost reduction initiatives—aiming to deliver competitive advantage through savings, lifecycle value generation, and demand management—without compromising quality or service delivery. By analysing market trends and forecasts, you will position the Group to maintain a competitive edge, whilst managing the end-to-end procurement process for key contracts in partnership with business units. Strong negotiation skills will be essential as you secure optimal terms and build supplier strategies that maximise value and performance.

A significant part of this role involves supplier and contract management. You will identify, evaluate, and nurture relationships with key suppliers, ensuring they meet agreed terms, quality standards, and delivery timelines. Monitoring supplier performance and mitigating risks, such as supply chain disruptions, will be crucial to maintaining operational continuity. Compliance is also a priority—you will ensure all procurement activities adhere to company policies, regulatory requirements, and ethical standards.

Additionally, you will collaborate with the Sustainability team to align the supply chain with the Group’s sustainability strategy, embedding responsible practices into procurement decisions. Regular reporting on procurement performance, savings achieved, and supplier metrics will keep senior leadership informed and demonstrate your impact.

What you'll need to succeed
The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in procurement, ideally within a complex, multifaceted organisation, and a proven track record of managing the end-to-end procurement process. Whilst a relevant qualification (CIPS/MCIPS) or equivalent would be desirable, industry experience or comparable expertise would be essential. You should possess a thorough understanding of procurement trends, industry standards, tendering processes, and the links between business strategy, procurement, and sustainability.

Experience in establishing procurement practices and contract management from scratch would be highly advantageous, as would hands-on expertise in supporting others to enhance their commercial awareness and purchasing practices.

To succeed, you will need outstanding communication and stakeholder engagement skills, enabling you to build strong relationships at all levels and lead by example in promoting the value of procurement. Your ability to negotiate effectively, analyse and manage contracts, and handle multiple projects with competing priorities will be key to delivering our procurement objectives.

Excellent organisational and programme delivery skills, paired with meticulous attention to detail, will ensure success in this fast-paced role. Proficiency in IT, along with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, completes the profile of the ideal candidate.

What you'll get in return
A highly competitive package is on offer with a basic salary up to £55,000 per annum plus a car allowance. You will also be entitled to some fantastic benefits including a 25 days holiday plus the bank holidays, pension scheme, subsidised group benefits, employee discounts, an extremely comprehensive wellbeing programme and much more.

The role will also offer hybrid and flexible working arrangements as well as continued development and training opportunities.
