Your new company
Hays are working with our client Mid & East Antrim Borough Council, who have an immediate requirement for a Health & Safety Advisor to join their team on a full-time, temporary contract for approximately 6 months. Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager, you will assist the Health and Safety section and provide advice and guidance to all departments in respect of Health and Safety legislation, carry out risk assessments and safe working practices.
Your new role
Based from either Ballymena, Larne or Carrickfergus, this is an initial 6-month temporary contract with the potential to extend.
The main purpose of the role is to assist in the management and delivery of operational Corporate Health and Safety objectives, and implement programmes for promoting health, safety and wellbeing.
You will report to the Health and Safety Manager for providing advice and guidance to line management and staff in respect of compliance with health and safety legislation, policy and procedures and safe working practices.
Participate in a planned programme of regular inspections and audit of Council premises to advise on all general health and safety matters, in liaison with other internal or external inspecting or regulatory bodies.

What you'll need to succeed
To be eligible for this position you must meet the following criteria:
Applicants must have a degree qualification and possess a Nebosh certificate.
AND
Be able to demonstrate, by providing personal and specific examples, that they have two years' experience’ working within a H&S Advisor role delivering in the following areas:
- Proven track record of working within a large multi-disciplinary organisation
- Proven track record of provision of providing practical H&S advice and guidance with successful outcomes.
- Experience of effectively working with a range of internal or external stakeholders including Line Managers and shop stewards.
- Developing and implementing H&S policies and procedures that are aligned to corporate priorities and in accordance with legislation and best practice.
Alternatively, consideration may be given to applicants who do not possess the required academic qualification but can demonstrate, by providing personal and specific examples, that they have four years’ experience working within an H&S Officer role in the four points above.

The salary range is £37,938 - £39,513 pro rata.
Working hours will be 37 per week, Monday to Friday.

You will be paid weekly via BACS every Friday morning.
