Health, Safety & Environmental Advisor (3-month Contract role)

Your new company

Our client is seeking a dedicated Health, Safety & Environmental Advisor to join our team on a 3-month temporary contract initially. Based in Boston, Lincolnshire, and covering Kings Lynn when required, in this role you will assist in implementing the health, safety, and environmental aspects of the clients' integrated management system. You will also provide internal advice and guidance on these matters.


Your new role

As the Health, Safety & Environmental Advisor, your responsibilities will include promoting a positive health and safety culture, managing non-conformances, supporting audits, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with legislation. You will also participate in HSE meetings and training programs.
Key responsibilities will include:
  • Promote a positive health and safety culture throughout the company.
  • Assist with transferring Risk Assessments from old excel systems into new format.
  • Contribute to the Company’s HSE commitments by highlighting and promoting best practices.
  • Safety walks through the factory floor on a weekly basis and coaching staff when finding issues that need addressing, coaching them on how to improve and motivate staff to follow safety guidelines.
  • Assist in managing and controlling outstanding non-conformances.
  • Support annual internal and external audits.
  • Conduct and update risk assessments, considering how risks could be reduced.
  • Outline safe operational procedures, identifying and considering all relevant hazards.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure policies and procedures are properly implemented.
  • Ensure working practices comply with legislation.
  • Complete, monitor, and review records and internal audit findings to maintain compliance.
  • Produce reports suggesting improvements.
  • Assist in monthly HSE meetings.
  • Participate in delivering health, safety, and environmental training programs.
  • Maintain relevant quality and environmental control procedures.

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this role you will be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
  • Good interpersonal skills and willingness to collaborate at all business levels.
  • Numerate with good data analysis skills and competent in Microsoft Office.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a safety role.
  • IOSH Health & Safety management qualification or similar (minimum requirement).
  • NEBOSH certificate or Diploma (desirable)
  • Experience in timber manufacturing/industry (desirable but not essential).
  • Capability to conduct and manage risk assessments.
  • Understanding of safety and environmental systems and processes.
  • Lean Qualification (desirable but not essential).
  • Computer literate and quick to learn new applications.
