Support Worker (Homelessness Support)

Your New Company

Their services in Pembrokeshire help vulnerable adults and young people, who are homeless or are threatened with homelessness, to live independently. They offer employment within an established team that can help you build your knowledge and experience

Your New Role
As a support worker, you will be an integral part of their team, providing consistency to their service users when permanent staff are absent. You can choose to work at one of their services or across all of their services countywide, with the flexibility to work days, evenings, or nights, or a mixture of all three. Your tasks will vary depending on the time and day you work, offering a range of exciting new opportunities to make a difference.

During the day you may:
  • Support a young person to make a GP appointment.
  • Complete health and safety and fire safety checks.
  • Help someone tidy their home.
  • Assist with a benefit claim.
  • Work with other professionals.
  • Create action and safety plans.

During the evening you may:
  • Host a communal meal.
  • Arrange a film night.
  • Help complete an application for college.
  • Plan future events and activities.
  • Help create a meal plan and shopping list.
  • Offer advice and guidance.

During the night you may:
  • Manage visitors.
  • Help someone in crisis.
  • Call police or other emergency services if required.
  • Monitor CCTV.
  • Patrol the internal and external premises.

What You Will Need To Succeed
To succeed in this role, you need to be:
  • Reliable and motivated with a desire to learn.
  • Able to follow policy and procedure to keep people safe.
  • Empathetic and creative with a can-do attitude.
  • Resilient and calm under pressure.
  • Able to communicate positively.
  • Hold a full UK driving licence
