Your new role

We are currently recruiting for a number of social housing roles across the City to join BCC as part of their Homeless Centre Support staff team. Within these roles, you will be delivering a customer focused temporary accommodation service, supporting residents in accessing resources to help them move on from temporary accommodation.
As part of your role, you will be making referrals to external agencies and build confidence in customers to effectively manage their expenditure and maximise their income and independence. You will also be processing housing benefit/DHP claim forms to minimise the risk of rent arrears and bad debt. Promptly liaise with TA Finance Officers to determine the best course of action in dealing with non-payment of TA rent and service charges and monitor and accurately record income received.
You will also be responsible for ensuring rent is paid and will follow procedure if there are any breaches in tenancy arrangements, recording any warnings for minor breaches and immediately reporting any serious breaches. You may also be required to attend court evictions.

What you'll need to succeed

In order to succeed in your application, you will need a background in Social Housing – this could be a housing officer, neighbourhood officer, homelessness officer etc. You will need knowledge of Legislation and Part 6 and 7 of the Housing Act.

These roles will be an ASAP start. Before starting you will need to pass your reference and compliance checks, upon registration please have your 2 most recent employment details available for reference checks.

This role requires an Enhanced DBS, which Hays will put into process for you free of charge.

What you'll get in return

The roles BCC are currently offering are all full-time positions. They are temporary positions which tend to be on a 3-month ongoing contract.
The hourly rate of pay starts at £12 with this increasing dependent on the position you are offered and the level of experience you have.
