Your New Role

My client is looking for a dedicated IT Engineer to support their remote workforce by ensuring the seamless operation of our IT systems and infrastructure. You will play a crucial role in maintaining a secure, efficient, and scalable IT environment while working primarily from home, with the expectation of visiting their central Exeter office at least once a week.

What You’ll Be Doing
In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Implementing security measures using Endpoint. You will evaluate security alerts, assess recommendations, and take ownership of vulnerabilities.
  • Managing endpoints through Intune, including the rollout of operating system updates, software patches, and application configurations.
  • Administering Microsoft 365 applications (SharePoint, Teams, Exchange Online) and performing general administration tasks such as configuring mailboxes, managing licences, and overseeing application permissions.
  • Administering Azure Entra ID, managing user accounts, roles, groups, and permissions while aligning with best practices.
  • Providing technical support for escalations from our managed service provider for both Mac and Windows operating systems. You will resolve software issues and deliver effective technical assistance.
  • Assisting with additional duties assigned by the IT Manager related to IT infrastructure, hardware troubleshooting, or special projects.

What You’ll Bring to the Team

  • Proficiency in Endpoint with a focus on assessing and managing security recommendations and vulnerabilities.
  • Experience in administering Microsoft 365 applications (SharePoint, Teams, Exchange Online).
  • A background in supporting Mac and Windows environments in a business setting; Mac experience is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with Intune for endpoint management across a mixed environment of Windows/MacOS, iOS, and Android devices.
  • Familiarity with Azure Entra ID for managing users, roles, groups, and permissions.
  • Basic scripting and automation skills (PowerShell and/or bash) are desirable but not essential.
  • A solid understanding of core IT principles such as least privilege access, multifactor authentication (MFA), defence in depth, and change control.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities with the capacity to work independently in a remote setting.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively support non-technical users with a friendly and proactive approach.
