Large Multi Academy Trust seeking an IT Technician to provide IT support at a secondary school in Bolton.

Your new company

This multi-academy trust has over 40 schools as part of the trust and with continuous growth plans, it is an exciting time to join this trust and become a part of the success story. The trust has schools based nationally, however with a strong presence in the North West and they have approached Hays seeking an IT Technician to be based at a secondary school based in Bolton. The MAT has an excellent reputation for providing a high quality of education for pupils, whilst ensuring excellent resources are available to staff and pupils, including the IT infrastructure. The trust has a central IT team which has grown over the last few years, and they are looking to appoint an IT Technician who will be based on site at the Bolton secondary school, working with the support of the wider IT team.

Your new role

As an IT technician, you will be responsible for providing a high level of IT support across the secondary school, which will include providing support to both pupils and staff on site on a daily basis. Duties will include providing support with hardware, software, networking and bespoke educational systems and technologies. From a hardware perspective, you will install and build new hardware, respond to hardware requests from end users, ensure an up-to-date inventory of IT equipment and also liaise with a central IT team regarding the purchasing of new IT equipment. To support software, this will involve the installation and upgrading of new software, working closely with the central team to roll out new software and technologies and ensure staff are fully trained on the use of these. You will also provide support with projectors, AV equipment and bespoke educational technologies such as interactive whiteboards. Working with the central IT team, you will deliver on IT projects relating to modernising and centralising IT, implementing cyber policies and overall ensuring the IT infrastructure enables the effective teaching and learning of pupils.

What you'll need to succeed

In order to be successful in securing this position, you must have significant IT Technician experience, with experience working in the education sector in a school, college or trust being beneficial. You will have excellent communication skills, as well as experience providing a high level of customer service, as you will be working in a face-to-face environment with end users. Experience working with specific educational technologies, as well as printers and AV equipment would also be beneficial. You will be seeking a permanent position in the education sector where you are able to further progress your skills and knowledge.

What you'll get in return

In return, you will be paid a competitive annual salary of between £28,000 and £30,000 and will become an integral part of the support staff team at this school, as well as working closely with the wider IT team and having the opportunity to further progress your skills and knowledge.
