Purchasing / Merchandising Assistant in Retail

We are partnered with an award-winning retailer based in Bristol who are at the forefront of innovative retailing. After a continued period of growth, they are looking to recruit 3 x permanent Merchandising Assistants and 2 x FTC Merchandising Assistants into their busy & growing Buying function. These are great vacancies for someone with similar experience or someone who is looking to start their career in merchandising / buying with transferable skills.

Your new role

You'll be working in a fast-paced environment, working closely with the wider Merchandising and Buying team to manage stock distribution across the business and be responsible for allocating and managing stock levels aligned to sales forecasts and targets. By reviewing stock and sales, you'll ensure that the right volumes are delivered at the right time to optimise profitability. By analysing large amounts of data, you'll be able to liaise with vendors and stakeholders to make recommendations on stock replenishment to efficiently maximise sales potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyse stock and sales reports, ensuring data accuracy
  • Review sales forecasts and projected orders to ensure maintenance of stock levels
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to discuss and act on stock issues
  • Raise purchase orders
  • Work closely with suppliers and vendors relating to supply chain issues, ensuring goods arrive on time.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Previous experience within retail, supply chain or purchasing at assistant / coordinator level would be beneficial.
  • A confident self-starter, being able to work both autonomously and in a collaborative environment
  • An analytical mindset & numerical skills; experience using Excel would be desirable
  • Attention to detail
  • Great communications skills

  • A hybrid working pattern; 3 days in office per week, 2 days from home (Bristol based)
