Our client has a wide range of surgical products including tissue adhesives, sutures, haemostats, internal fixation devices and internal sealants, which it makes under its varied brands.
Your new role
- To carry out Environmental monitoring of clean rooms and controlled manufacturing areas.
- Request Bioburden samples per sampling plan and book in Bioburden samples.
- To carry out Bioburden product testing to support the manufacturing process in a timely manner.
- To carry out Bioburden validation for New Product Development.
- To prepare In-house media and diluents.
- Perform sterility/fertility testing on the prepared media.
- Maintain bacterial and yeast cultures.
- To perform Break Integrity monitoring when required within and outside working hours.
- To collect water samples and test.
- To prepare and execute validation protocols and reports when required.
- To promote and uphold Quality and Microbiology requirements within production and other departments.
- Maintain the laboratory housekeeping and wash glassware.
- Will be cross trained to work in Quality Control when required.
- Ensure all testing is carried out in line with the laboratory standard operating procedures.
- Ensure all generated data is trended and stored electronically and contains all the information necessary to allow a true and accurate interpretation of results.
- Identification and enumeration of microorganisms (Gram stain/ microscopy and Biochemical tests).
- To work with and handle class 1 and 2 strains of bacteria aseptically.
- Order and restock consumables (externally and internally) for all Microbiology testing.
What you'll need to succeed
- HNC in applied Biology or relevant subject.
- Previous Microbiology Laboratory experience in a working environment is essential.
- Environmental Monitoring of cleanrooms.
- Bioburden testing (membrane filtration/pour plate) experience.
- Water testing experience.
- Good Microbiological/Aseptic techniques.
- Gram staining technique.
- Must be a driver
- Familiar with Biochemical kits.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Ability to operate relevant testing instruments.
- Ability to analyse test results and present a report.
- Basic computer literacy, including familiarity with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel, or other word processing and spreadsheet programs.
- Multi-task and prioritise what tasks are always the most important.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Flexibility in working hours to meet business needs.
