Your new role
The Operations Accountant will report to the Financial Controller and work closely with and provide business partner support to, manufacturing, distribution and sales.
Job Purpose
  • To ensure that the KPI operational reporting of the site is completed accurately on a daily and weekly basis.
  • To manage the robust performance reporting of the delegated business unit, highlighting issues to the Financial Controller and Site Management.
  • To ensure regular stock takes are done and investigate anomalies
  • Ensure that the site overheads are recorded correctly and that all accruals and prepayments are accurate.
  • Assist in the preparation of the site weekly and monthly actuals, monitoring against budgets and forecasts and providing trend analysis of key operational numbers.
  • To deputise for the Senior Operations Accountant as required.
Key Responsibilities
  • To support the continual improvement in the process and systems relevant to the needs of the site.
  • Assist to ensure weekly and period end accounts are prepared and communicated to the Centre in the appropriate format
  • Provide business partner support to the site management team, ensuring site targets are achieved and that changing business requirements are met
  • Assist in the preparation of accurate and timely budgets and forecasts
  • Provide budget holders with overhead information for effective review of value and control.
  • Enhance management understanding through provision of information and education that promotes a cost awareness culture
  • Support the continuous development and implementation of relevant business measures to meet the needs of the site.
  • Actively monitor and safeguard assets and ensure liabilities are accounted for
  • Work with site FC to drive improvements in factory efficiency by interpreting production information into operational action plans
  • Carry out ad-hoc projects/investigations as required
  • Provide support to the wider finance community
  • Support the site FC as required
What you'll need to succeed
This opportunity will suit a qualified (CIMA, ACCA, ACA) or Qualified By Experience Accountant with 2 years + experience in a commercial business environment.
Excellent interpersonal skills, influence through persuasion

The ability to build strong relationships based on integrity, trust, and respected financial judgement.
Flexible with the ability to prioritise effectively and to work in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent knowledge of Excel and all Microsoft applications.
