Hays are pleased to partner with a growing Professional Services company based in Newport who are on the lookout for their next Payroll Officer. This vacancy is perfect for someone who has around 3-5 years experience in payroll, who is looking to join a fast-paced role within a company that offers development and variation in responsibilities. This is a permanent vacancy.
Your new job
As Payroll Officer, your duties will include but are not limited to:
•Process weekly payroll for a growing medium to large sized business through payroll system.
•Deal with general pay and tax queries in a timely and consistent manner.
•Input changes to the payroll system i.e., pay rate changes, department changes, tax codes, third party payments.
•Lead and facilitate monthly meetings with regional directors to strategise and implement initiatives aimed at optimising payroll processes and boosting overall operational efficiency.
•Calculate hours worked from time and attendance reports and import to the payroll system.
•Manage BACS payments processes with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring precision and accuracy in all financial transactions.
•Check entitlement for holiday pay.
•Process all payment information to ensure timely payments to employees.
•Set up new starters and leavers.
•Update and calculate statutory payments such as SSP, SPP, SMP.
•Send electronic payslips, P45’s and P60’s.
•Perform weekly checks for payroll data and liaise with other areas of the business to ensure accuracy.
•Maintain payroll records for benefits & pension purposes and administer changes where necessary.
What You Will Need
In order to succeed in this role, you will need:
•Excellent attention to detail
•Experience working in a fast-paced office environment
•Excellent communication skills
•Proven experience using payroll software/systems
•Around 3 years experience in payroll
•Be looking to study CIPP, or currently studying
•Be dynamic and have an ability to be adaptable/flexible
What You Will Be Offered
As the successful candidate, you will be offered:
•Salary of between £29k and £32k dependent on experience
•Hybrid working model (2/3 days in office, the rest from home)
•Flexible start/finish to be agreed with manager, typical times being 9 – 5pm Monday – Friday
•Social activities paid for by company eg Christmas party
•Private medical insurance
•Study support
•25 days annual leave plus BH
