Your new company
Hays are working with a Nottingham-based client who are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented pension/ payroll assistant to join their team. You will work closely with Academy Leaders and the HR team to ensure that any pension changes are processed in a timely and accurate way. Additionally, you will liaise with their academy leaders and payroll bureau to ensure staff are enroled accurately.
Your new role
- Process starter and leaver pension forms for the end-to-end payroll cycle in collaboration with the payroll bureau.
- Process contract variation forms and leavers.
- Manage the payroll/pensions inbox, responding to employees in a timely and professional manner.
- Liaise with Teachers and Local Government pension schemes, administering returns and completed forms as appropriate, and resolving any queries.
- Upload weekly and monthly pension reports.
- Handle enquiries from employees, management, and external contacts.
- Maintain up-to-date and comprehensive guidance notes on pension procedures.
- Assist auditors as required.
- Provide reports as needed.
- Support the overall ethos of the Trust and comply with Trust policies and procedures
What you'll need to succeed
- GCSE English and Maths at a minimum grade of C or equivalent.
- Experience in a payroll and pension role in the education sector.
- Recent experience of administering a large computerised payroll.
- Experience of delivering a high-quality, responsive, and supportive pension administrative service in a fast-paced environment.
- Well-developed IT skills, including the use of internal systems for inputting and reporting, MS Word and Excel to an advanced level, databases, mail merge, and email.
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of payroll systems, taxation, National Insurance, and pension administration.
- Good understanding of accounting principles and their application to payroll and pensions.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to write formal reports and letters to a high standard.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and take effective action to deal with these.
- The ability to work on his own initiative and to meet tight deadlines.
- Attention to detail, excellent time management, and organisation
