A major engineering and defence employer in Barrow-In-Furness with an excellent global reputation are looking to welcome a number of experienced strategic Procurement professionals into their growing team. Due to a secure and growing pipeline of work, this business is recruiting for multiple senior level commercially-minded procurement and supply chain professionals to join the company on a permanent basis. They have won multiple awards and are one of the undisputed leaders within their industry. These roles are based in Barrow-in-Furness and are being offered on a hybrid working basis, allowing you to work from home 2-3 days per week - however, if you would like to relocate nearer to the office, the company will support you financially with relocation costs, meaning you will never be far away from the beautiful Lake District!

Your new role
The Procurement Manager will be responsible for leading the coordination of all procurement and supply chain activity within your given area of spend. With subcontractor spend being a key focus area, you will lead on contract management activity and manage key supplier relationships. The Procurement Manager will play a pivotal role in managing a team of experienced procurement professionals, as well as reporting upwards to senior management. You will act as a point of escalation, so you will need to be a natural problem solver and able to act autonomously to make effective decisions.

Operating at a senior strategic level, you will be knowledgable about, and capable of, managing the full end-to-end procurement lifecycle, spanning supplier evaluations through to understanding the commercials, subcontract management, handling difficult supplier situations, managing strategic relationships with key stakeholders. You will manage and coach a team and will develop them, acting as a true leader.

What you'll need to succeed
  • Prior experience of leading a procurement team and working at a Senior Buyer / Procurement Manager level
  • Ideally you will be MCIPS qualified, or working towards qualification
  • Procurement project management experience
  • Collaboration with suppliers and sub-contractors to ensure a smooth running procurement process
  • It would be beneficial if you have experience of working in a fast-paced regulated procurement environment, such as pharmaceutical, food, aerospace, automotive, engineering or manufacturing
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to show initiative and take ownership of a situation
  • Willingness to travel and stay overnight when required (for any supplier meetings tec)
