Procurement Manager

Your new company

This not-for-profit organisation is looking for a motivated candidate ready to develop the organisation, where they are encouraged alongside all staff to demonstrate the organisation's values in their day-to-day role. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate how they live these values in their current work and life.


Your new role

  • Maintain and develop procurement policies and procedures, and electronic systems for tendering and procurement cards to ensure compliance with regulation and adoption of best practice, as set out in the governance framework, public money and Welsh Government directives, whilst also ensuring business efficiency
  • Plan procurement function workload, including liaising with Directors and Heads of Departments and maintaining Contracts Register and Tender Log, to ensure procurement deadlines are met
  • Supervise, support and develop Procurement Officer and cover duties in their absence
  • Control and administer formal tender process – provide advice to colleagues, place electronic tenders, open tenders, liaise with suppliers/contractors during tender process
  • Manage corporate utilities contracts and liaison with the Buildings department
  • Liaise with Internal Audit and External Audit and implement audit actions as required
  • Undertake relevant training and where required, assist with the training of others.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Proven track record of working at a strategic level across procurement and supply chain management
  • Excellent negotiation skills with a commercial mind-set
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Proven experience in a procurement function of a public sector organisation, including managing OJEU/Find a Tender procurement process and using and administering electronic tendering
  • Familiarity with procurement legislation and best practices
  • The ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and drive success
  • Experience of working in Welsh Public Sector or a not-for-profit organisation
