Procurement Manager, Category/Commodity Manager

A newly created position working for this global employer of choice based in Suffolk. Working as part of an established team with high levels of profile and buy-in, this organisation is extremely profitable with strong prospects for further growth over the coming years. Available on a hybrid basis with 3 days per week in the office, this procurement role will have strategic responsibility for C£25million of direct spend.

This position will be responsible for devising, implementing and continually defining global supply chain strategies for relevant commodities to deliver best in class supplier quality, product/service delivery, total cost and cash-flow performance. Key areas of focus include: supply-base rationalisation; drive cost-improvement initiatives; negotiate and implement long-term supplier agreements; ensure SME status internally in advising and guiding internal stakeholders; build and maintain partnerships with global suppliers, visit Far East based suppliers twice per year; and play a key part in driving a culture of continuous improvement.

To succeed in this role, the ability to work autonomously with ambiguity and at pace is essential. Category or commodity experience is flexible, however procurement experience from a Manufacturing, Engineering, Automotive or similar sector is a pre-requisite.

With strong negotiation and contract management skills, you will have the ability to work collaboratively at all levels of an organisation and have exceptional communication and influencing skills. With a high attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills you will relish the opportunity to harness your skills and operate with a high degree of autonomy.
