Procurement Assistant

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Procurement Specialist to join a well-established company in the manufacturing sector. You will be joining at a time when the business is focused on achieving significant cost reductions, while maintaining/improving product quality and supplier service levels. You will play a key role in managing the procurement process and driving efficiencies within the supply chain.
Your new role
- Management of all component stock levels.
- Management of existing and new suppliers
- Compile RFQ’s for identified material requirements as necessary & can interpret & analyse the links between cost; price & margin.
- Identifying opportunities for improvement within procurement and material functions, focusing on reducing stock levels, shortening supplier lead times, and improving stock availability.
- Participating in production meetings to ensure that material availability supports production requirements.
- Managing the sourcing process and ERP transactions to optimise internal efficiency and minimise costs.
- Working closely with suppliers and internal teams to resolve procurement-related issues or discrepancies.
What you'll need to succeed
- Strong proficiency in IT, particularly with Excel and ERP systems.
- Microsoft Office – Intermediate Minimum
- Good communication skills – Written & Verbal.
- Excellent negotiation and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.
- The ability to work effectively to tight deadlines and make informed decisions under pressure.
- A proactive, methodical, and organised approach to tasks.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with a focus on building and maintaining collaborative relationships.
