I am recruiting for an exciting new role for people within the quantum technology sector, with a keen interest and working relationships with international markets and investors. This role at the Department for Business and Trade is a fantastic opportunity to utilise your expertise in quantum technology, and create/nurture international relationships within the sector.
Role Objective:
The team’s investment work promotes the UK’s outstanding technology ecosystems to overseas technology companies who are looking to make their first investment in the UK or expand their existing footprint here.
This specialist role will lead investment projects specifically focusing on quantum technologies and wider computing hardware technologies.
The specialist will work closely with DBT’s UK and overseas investment teams to deliver investment wins and advise on export strategy.

Responsibilities:
- Lead on quantum technology investment projects across the leading quantum technology countries globally.
- Map high growth and future unicorn quantum businesses with potential to invest in the UK.
- Maintain existing relationships and build new ones with the UK quantum community across incubators, accelerators, academia and local and national government.
- Make in-country visits to meet potential investors to promote the UK as an inward quantum investment destination and see generated projects through to completion.
- Work collaboratively across multiple internal stakeholders including the DBT sector team, colleagues overseas, and the Office for Investment.
- Support the team’s delivery of set piece events including London Tech Week and Mobile World Congress by helping to lead engagement at the shows on our quantum activity.
Lead our investor engagement in the build up to and during the National Quantum Technology Showcase in London. - Provide learning and development sessions to the teams, sharing knowledge on quantum computing.
- As well as a primary focus on quantum, have the capability to seek to drive investment in relation to broader hardware sectors such as semiconductors, digital infrastructure and photonics.
Key Skills:
- Significant knowledge and experience of the quantum technologies sector.
- Demonstrable experience of working in the sector whether that be in a tech company, academia or an accelerator or incubator.
- Excellent customer facing skills, lead generation expertise and the ability to get projects over the line.
- Strong network of stakeholders within the quantum technologies ecosystem and highly developed relationship management experience.
